Sending SMS Communications

Sending SMS Communications

Overview

EvangelOS supports SMS messaging through a shared sending infrastructure. Sending SMS requires the Growth or Complete plan (the sms_communications entitlement). Individual churches do not configure or manage their own SMS phone numbers — delivery is handled automatically by the platform.

How SMS Works in EvangelOS

All outgoing SMS messages are sent from a platform-managed number. Each message is prefixed with your church name so recipients can identify the sender — for example: "[Grace Community]: Don't forget, service is this Sunday at 10am."

SMS usage is tracked monthly per organization. Your plan includes a set allowance, and EvangelOS enforces that limit to prevent unexpected overages.

Sending an SMS

  1. Go to Communications in the main navigation.
  2. Click New Communication.
  3. Choose SMS as the channel.
  4. Select your audience (all members, a group, or individual members).
  5. Write your message. Keep in mind SMS character limits — standard messages are 160 characters; longer messages are split into segments.
  6. Click Send or schedule for a later time.

SMS Consent

EvangelOS enforces TCPA-compliant SMS consent. A member must have given consent before they can receive marketing SMS messages. Members who have not yet consented, or who have opted out, will be automatically excluded from SMS sends. See SMS Consent Guide for details on managing consent.

Checking Your SMS Usage

Your current SMS usage and monthly allowance are visible in Settings → Billing. If you are approaching your limit, consider upgrading your plan or auditing your audience lists to reduce sends.

Subscription Requirement

SMS Communications require the Growth or Complete plan. If the SMS option does not appear in the communication channel selector, confirm your plan in Settings → Billing.
