How to Add a Family

How to Add a Family

EvangelOS links individual member profiles together as family households. This keeps parents and children connected, enables the Kids Check-In guardian pickup code flow, and makes it easy to view giving and attendance across an entire household.

There are two ways to add a family to EvangelOS:

  • From member profiles — the standard method for adding families in advance, done by any admin.
  • Quick Family Registration at check-in — a streamlined flow for check-in volunteers when an unregistered family walks in on the day of an event.

Method 1: Adding a Family Through Member Profiles

For families you're adding ahead of time, create each person as an individual member and link them together via family ID:

  1. Go to Members in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Add New Member and enter the details for the first family member (typically a parent or guardian).
  3. Save the profile.
  4. Repeat for each additional family member.
  5. On each member's profile, link them to the same family using the family relationship field.

Once linked, family members appear together on each other's profiles and are grouped for Kids Check-In purposes.

Method 2: Quick Family Registration at Check-In

When a family arrives for an event and is not yet in the system, check-in volunteers can register them on the spot without leaving the check-in interface.

Requires the Kids Check-In feature (Complete plan).

How It Works

  1. Open the Check-In Station from the event's Check-In tab.
  2. Search for the family by name.
  3. If no matching family is found, a Register New Family button appears below the search results.
  4. Click Register New Family to open the registration form.
  5. Enter the family name and phone number, then add each child's details.
  6. Click Submit. EvangelOS creates the family record and individual member profiles for each child.
  7. The check-in station automatically searches for the new family so you can check them in immediately — no extra steps needed.

What Gets Created

Quick Family Registration creates:

  • A family record with the household name and contact phone number
  • A member profile for each child, automatically linked to the new family

These records are permanent and appear in the Members list after registration. You can add more detail (email, address, guardian profiles) to each profile later.
