Understanding the Member Profile

Understanding the Member Profile

The Member Profile is the central record for every person in your church. It brings together contact information, family relationships, attendance, giving, notes, and AI-powered insights — all in one place.

Navigating the Member Profile

Open any member's profile from the Members section by clicking their name. The profile is organized into several tabs:

  • Overview — Core contact details, photo, membership status, tags, and key dates.
  • Ministries — Ministry groups and leadership roles this person is part of.
  • Skills — Skills and gifting areas recorded for this member.
  • Family — Linked family members and household relationships.
  • Attendance — A history of every event this person has checked in to.
  • Volunteers — Volunteer history and scheduled volunteer slots for this member.
  • Giving — Complete giving history, YTD totals, and giving statements.
  • Communication — SMS conversation history with this member.
  • Notes — Private staff notes about this member.
  • Background Check — Background check status and results (if applicable).

Overview Tab: Core Information

The Overview tab displays and lets you edit:

  • Contact details: Name, email, phone, address.
  • Membership Status: Guest, Attendee, Member, Inactive, Deceased, or custom statuses you define.
  • Key Dates: Birth date, baptism date, membership date, wedding anniversary.
  • Tags: Custom labels for filtering and segmenting (e.g., "New Visitor," "Volunteer," "Leadership Pipeline").
  • Profile Photo: Upload directly from the profile page.

Ministries Tab

The Ministries tab shows the ministry groups and teams this person is involved in. Ministry departments are defined under Settings → Fields → Ministry Departments and can be assigned to individual members here.

Skills Tab

The Skills tab lets you record this member's skills and gifting areas. This is useful for matching volunteers to ministry roles or identifying people with specific expertise when planning events or outreach efforts.

Family Tab: Household Relationships

EvangelOS organizes members into family/household units. From the Family tab you can:

  • View all members of the same household.
  • Set relationship types: Spouse, Child, Parent, Sibling, Guardian, or Other.
  • Designate a Primary Contact within the household for communication purposes.
  • Add a new family member directly from this tab (creates a new member record linked to the household).

Attendance Tab

Shows a chronological log of every event this member has checked in to, including the event name, date, and check-in method. The Attendance Summary at the top shows total check-ins, last attendance date, and attendance streak.

Volunteers Tab

The Volunteers tab shows this member's volunteer activity — including events they've been scheduled to serve and their volunteer history. The Is Volunteer designation on the profile can be set here, making it easy to identify who on your team is actively serving in a volunteer capacity.

Giving Tab

Displays this member's complete giving history. From here you can:

  • View individual transactions with date, amount, fund, and payment method.
  • See Year-to-Date (YTD) and All-Time giving totals.
  • Generate and download a Giving Statement for any date range directly from the member's profile.
  • Manually enter an offline gift (cash or check).

Giving data is visible to Site Admins and Financial role users only.

Communication Tab

The Communication tab shows the SMS conversation history between your organization and this member via the Telynx integration. This gives staff a complete record of text message exchanges without having to leave the member's profile.

Notes Tab

Staff can leave private notes on any member's profile. Notes are visible only to users with Editor access or above — they are never visible to the member, even via the Member Portal. Each note is timestamped and attributed to the staff member who wrote it.

Background Check Tab

This tab shows the status of any background checks for this member:

  • Not Requested
  • Pending — Check has been initiated and is in progress.
  • Clear — No issues found.
  • Review — Results require manual review.
  • Declined — Check returned disqualifying results.

To request a new check, click Request Check from this tab.

Merging Duplicate Profiles

If you find two profiles for the same person, go to the profile you want to keep, click the ... menu in the top-right corner, and select Merge Duplicate. Search for the duplicate, preview which data will be merged, and confirm. All records (giving, attendance, notes) transfer to the primary profile.
