Setting Up the Member Portal

Setting Up the Member Portal

The Member Portal is a self-service area where your congregation members can log in, view their own information, manage their giving, register for events, and engage with their church community — all without needing access to EvangelOS's administrative backend.

The Member Portal is available on all EvangelOS plans, including Essential. No separate feature activation is required — members can access the portal as soon as they receive an invitation from your admin.

What Members Can Do in the Portal

The Member Portal has five main sections accessible from the bottom navigation bar:

  • Home: A personal dashboard showing upcoming events, recent giving, and notifications.
  • Connect: Browse events, small groups, and ministries.
  • Serve (visible to volunteers only): View volunteer assignments and background check status.
  • Give: Make online donations and view giving history.
  • You: View and edit personal profile, contact details, and communication preferences (including SMS opt-in/out).

Note: Online giving in the portal requires the Growth plan (Online Giving feature).

Inviting Members to the Portal

Members access the portal with their own dedicated login — entirely separate from staff accounts.

Individual Invitation

  1. Open any member's profile in EvangelOS.
  2. Click the ... menu and select Invite to Member Portal.
  3. The member receives an email with a link to set up their portal account, using the email address on their profile.

Members whose email addresses are missing from their profiles cannot receive an invitation. Review and update email addresses before sending invitations.

Portal Privacy

Members can only see their own data in the portal. They cannot view other members' profiles, giving records, or contact information. The portal is entirely separate from the administrative backend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Member Portal the same as the staff EvangelOS account?
No. Member Portal accounts are entirely separate from staff accounts. A member with a portal account cannot see the administrative backend, member lists, financial records, or any staff-facing features.

Can a member be both a staff user and a portal member?
Yes. A person can have both a staff role (e.g., Editor) and a member portal account linked to the same person record. They use separate logins for each.

What if a member hasn't received their invitation email?
Ask them to check their spam folder first. If it's not there, you can resend the invitation from their profile using the ... menu → Resend Portal Invitation.
